Reset Your System with Your Own Hands
When your nervous system feels scattered, overextended, or overstimulated, you don’t always need a big routine to regulate—you need something you can do in the moment, with what you already have.
This practice combines slow breath with intentional self-touch, helping bring your system out of fight-or-flight and into calm awareness.
Practice: Hand-to-Heart + Belly Breathing
How to do it:
Sit or lie down comfortably.
Place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly.
Close your eyes or gaze softly downward.
Inhale through your nose for 4 counts
Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6–8 counts
Repeat for 2–5 minutes
As you breathe, gently feel the rise and fall beneath your hands—no forcing, just following.

Why It Works:
Gentle pressure on your chest and belly stimulates your vagus nerve
Anchoring your attention through breath + touch grounds you in the present
This combo sends your brain the signal: I am safe.
Coach’s Note:
The more familiar calm becomes, the easier it is to return to.
Come back to this any time—after a workout, before bed, or anytime your system says “pause.”
